The program equips doctorate students with a strong foundation on advanced theories, methods, and approaches in literary criticism and analysis. It exposes doctorate students to research projects across literary genres, across periods and epochs in history of literature, and across disciplines. Students of the program are provided with the technical and professional support to have their research outputs presented in national and international research conferences and published in international peer-reviewed indexed journals.

Masters Programs

- Literature

The program builds a strong foundation on the different theories of language as it prepares students for advance studies or the post-graduate program of the discipline. It focuses on the mastery of content as well as on the methods, approaches, and techniques of teaching varied courses in English language in higher education. As it prepares students for further or advanced studies, the program requires research papers to be presented in fora, seminars, trainings, workshops, and conferences. The program encourages students to collaborate and share best practices, research outputs through discussions, demonstrations, lectures, debates, symposia, and the like.

The program exposes students into a profound study of literary genres, the classic readings of literature as well as the works of contemporary literary masters. It develops the skills of literary criticism, analysis, and interpretation. As it prepares students for the doctorate degree in literature, a culture of research is developed requiring students to produce research papers/outputs that are to be presented in national and international conferences and published in international peer-reviewed and indexed journals of the discipline. It also updates students with the current trends and practices in the teaching of literature in higher education.

The program trains students to have mastery of the content of the teachings of different schools of philosophy and individual philosophers from ancient to the contemporary period. Students are taught how to write publishable research papers in philosophy and they are given opportunities and guidance to present and publish their research outputs.
