A Brief History of the University of San Jose-Recoletos
The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) is a higher education institution (HEI) in Cebu City, Philippines. It is one of the Philippines’ excellent universities, having been granted Full Autonomous Status by the country’s Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in 2001. It has consistently kept its standing ever since.
To date, it has two Centers of Excellence and three Centers of Development, also awarded by CHED. It was also ranked Top 15 in the 2020 Philippine University Ranking of 232 Philippine higher education institutions by Australia-based Unirank.
USJ-R became a University in 1984. In 2022, it will celebrate its 75th year of existence. Inspired by the Augustinian motto of Caritas et scientia, it remains committed to its goal of Quality Christian Community-oriented Education.
